No doubles for Coco Gauff confirms frequent partner Jessica Pegula.. Full Story Bellow

Jessica Pegula has confirmed that she and Coco Gauff will not team up for a tilt at the US Open doubles title this season.

Pegula says that both players are suffering from fatigue after their Olympic exertions and with the games now behind them they want to focus on singles.

Gauff and Pegula competed together in the women’s doubles competition at the Olympics as well as individual members of Team USA. Gauff has been eliminated from the Canadian Open singles event, while defending champion Pegula is still going strong.

The American No 2 and Giuliana Olmos competed in the Toronto women’s doubles tournament together. The third-seeded team of Caroline Dolehide and Desirae Krawczyk upset the American and Mexican duo in the quarterfinals.

“For me, I’m not sure. I know Coco doesn’t really, isn’t interested in playing, or at least I’m not, we’re not thinking of playing, so I probably will take it easy on the doubles the rest of the year, so, yeah, we’ll see,” Pegula said when asked about her plans to play doubles.

Pegula said that while she wouldn’t rule out any doubles, it wouldn’t be something that she was focused on or giving a high priority to for the remainder of the term.

“I think I’ll just play maybe whenever I kind of want to (laughing), and maybe just focus on singles the rest of the year,” she added.

In Conclusion
Gauff, who did not compete in the Canadian Open doubles competition, disclosed that she does not want to play the format going forward.

The defending champion wants to put her singles run at the US Open first as the big priority for the rest of her season.
