Meghan Markle completes filming for new Netflix show – but critics aren’t impressed

Meghan Markle’s latest Netflix venture has reportedly finished shooting, yet it’s already facing a barrage of criticism before even hitting our screens amid the Sussexes’ multi-million-dollar deal with the streamer.

In the spring, hot on the heels of her hinting at her American Riviera Orchard brand, news broke that the Duchess of Sussex was crafting a series aimed at “celebrating the joys of cooking and gardening, entertaining and friendship”.

Her hubby, Prince Harry, is also getting in on the Netflix action with his own project as part of their whopping deal with the streaming giant. Harry’s show will delve into his beloved sport, polo.

A source recently spilled the beans to The Daily Beast about Meghan’s show, saying: “It [filming] all went well and it is in the can.”, reports the Mirror US.

Sky News presenter Rita Panahi didn’t mince words, stating: “Meghan Markle has just wrapped up filming on a new cooking and home show for Netflix, a show which has yet to receive a formal title or air date, as part of the Sussexes $100m deal and was filmed at a property near their Montecito mansion in Los Angeles.”

She added scathingly: “It’s apparently going to focus on the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining and friendship and I’ve gotta say, it sounds bloody awful.”

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams recently shared his thoughts with us, stating: “It [the Sussexes’ deal with Netflix] runs out next year and Netflix are no longer producing the series of The Crown, as they previously were. They might therefore have less interest in the Sussexes.””If they lost this contract, with Archewell, their business and charitable foundation, having so few donors, they might well be in financial trouble. Since their exposes of royal life has made megabucks, but little else has made money, the Royal Family better hope that this unpredictable and ruthlessly ambitious couple stays with Netflix.”

This comes as Meghan prepares to launch her brand, American Rivieria Orchard, after teasing it to the world back in March before sending out 50 jars of jam to influencers.
