Simone Biles Shares Major Announcement About Her Gymnastics Future…Full Details Below
Simone Biles is bidding farewell to the move that gained her fame — and earned her a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
The gold medalist made a huge comeback in Paris, returning to the Summer Games at age 27 after she was withdrew from several events at the Tokyo Olympics. Biles gained redemption in Paris by winning three gold medals and one silver medal.
One of those gold medals came on the vault thanks to an iconic move. Biles performed the Yurchenko double pike, a move no woman had completed before she unveiled it at the U.S. Classic in 2021. The vault has a difficulty score of 6.6, the highest value in the history of the women’s vault.
But Biles appears ready to move on from the difficult maneuver. The gymnast took to her Instagram stories on Sept. 2 to share what appeared to be an announcement on the future of the iconic move.
“R.I.P. yurchenko double pike,” Biles wrote in the caption above a picture of herself sitting on a vault.
